Timotej & Lucia Mahrik
Timo and Lucia grew up in the same church—CB Church in Žilina, Slovakia. Both of their fathers were strongly involved in ministry there; Timo’s dad was a leading pastor and Lucia’s dad was one of the elders. Timo and Lucia got baptized when they were 14. Timo started serving in his local church’s worship band at the age of 12. When he was 16, he joined the youth ministry. A couple of years later, Timo became a leader of the team and Lucia joined. They have both been involved in outreach ministry through their local church, and, after eight years of ministry, have passed the leadership role to the next generation of leaders. Currently they both serve in a small church plant ZaKostolom (youth ministry, worship, small groups).
Lucia is a high school teacher (biology, chemistry). After maternity leave, she would love to get back to teaching to be with the students.
Prior to full-time-missionary life, Timo worked for several years as an IT developer in Vienna, Austria. Jesus called him to leave the IT industry and join Josiah Venture (JV) Slovakia in 2018. Timo has been leading the JV Slovakia team since 2022.
Timo and Lucia both enjoy being parents to Johanka.
