Michal & Katarína Pončák
Michal and Katarína met for the first time while serving at an English camp in their local church. Their life story is quite similar. They are both “fruits” of several projects led by TCKompas—Josiah Venture’s (JV) partner organization in Slovakia. For Katarína, her journey with Christ started when she went to her first English camp at the age of 16. Michal started following Jesus at the age of 20, after he became friends with local JV missionaries. God changed their life plans radically. After several years serving with their local church, they became full-time members of Josiah Venture in September 2016, when they also got married.
Currently, Michal serves in the Communications team of JV Slovakia, and he has a passion for telling stories through media like photos, videos, and podcasts. He is also serving in one-on-one discipleship ministry, as well as in the young adults youth group in their local church in Prešov.
Since becoming a follower of Christ, Katarina’s calling was always to help couples form healthy marriages. After completing her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at Wheaton College, IL, and with JV’s blessing, she moved out of her previous role in JV and started a new counseling ministry called Zera Counseling in 2022.
They are both passionate about reaching the lost people in Slovakia by showing them the hope that once changed their own lives forever.
