Preparing to Go
Some final details as you near your date of departure.
Doctor Appointments
You (if married, your spouse too) will be required to have a physical examination and return the health form signed and completed by your physician at least two weeks before leaving for the field. Many appointments for physicals take weeks or even months to schedule, so plan accordingly. Be sure to print the form and bring it with you to the appointment!
Important Documents
In preparation for living overseas and being an employee of JV NFP, there are many Important Documents you’ll need to complete before departing. The Explanation of Important Documents will provide helpful instructions on each document. We suggest you upload your completed Important Documents to your JV Google Shared Folder in order to protect anything that might have personal identity information contained in it. Let your JV HR Rep know when they have been uploaded. The Important Documents Checklist can guide you in making sure you have submitted everything. You will need to work with your team leader to confirm the specific visa needs for your country.
Apostilled Documents
Apostille certificates verify or authenticate public officials’ (Notary Public) signature on documents in order for them to be used outside of the United States. Many of our countries require documents used for immigration to be apostilled. This means some of your documents (birth certificate, marriage license, etc.) may need to be submitted to the Secretary of State (in the state in which the document was issued) to complete that process. You will need to check with your team leader to see what the requirements are for your specific country for your long-term visa process.
Preparation for Departure Checklist
You will want to review this checklist regularly to help you avoid missing something important. Things can change unexpectedly!
